In August of 2021, the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, halting all secondary education for girls. In September of 2021, secondary schools reopened for boys, but girls past the age of 12 were left out. The anguish these girls have experienced is beyond comprehension. One recent morning I awoke feeling a message from Divine Mother. Three young girls in our community are now 11 years old and all friends. It’s the perfect age for a Rite of Passage. In Vedic Astrology, the year 11 points to the broader 12-year cycle of life called Bhrigu Chakra Paddhati, governed by the Moon. The 11th year is associated with the 11th house, gateway to your dreams, desires, income, social circle and long-term gains.
According to the Yuga cycles of time and the Vedic texts, we are in the midst of a 30-year “re-set” from 2020 to 2050—a time when things may rapidly fall apart in order to build a newer, better world. The day of Kartika Purnima is so auspicious that any religious activity done on this day gives manifold benefits.

Mahavatar Babaji has intrigued spiritual seekers since Yogananda first wrote about the deathless avatar in Autobiography of a Yogi nearly eighty years ago. It’s been said he only reveals himself to those he chooses, is capable of God-like feats, can be in multiple locations at once, may appear to us in dreams, and those in high states of meditative consciousness can perceive him.
My brief sojourn to the Himalayas brought me face to face with a Shivite monk, perhaps the tallest monk I’d ever seen. It was 1990 and I was traveling on pilgrimage with a group of like-minded souls, eager to see what India had to offer. We were in the steep foothills near Darjeeling, where views […]
Much has been said about the coming earth changes that our planet will be experiencing in the next ten to fifty years. Some pundits say this “yuga shift” will come in 2032—a time when the old materialistic Kali Yuga fully transitions into the new Dwapara Yuga age of energy.
The hill we know of today as the Acropolis has been the site of communal worship and civilization long before Classical Athens in 500 BC. Possessing good fortification, natural springs, and a view of the surrounding mountains and sea ports, the Acropolis is not just the center of Athens but a well-positioned site to protect and manage a community. Perhaps for this reason the Acropolis eventually became the sacred precinct of the goddess Athena.
