Dates: Fridays once a week for 6 weeks from March 1st to April 5th, 2024

Time: 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time

For: Writers and poetry enthusiasts of all levels

Instructor: Dr. Nefretete Rasheed

The Journey Inward is a six-week exploration of poetry as a tool to explore and access the inner worlds of creativity, imagination, and vision. Each session will combine writing practice, poetry reading, and reflective discussion.   

Participants will engage in exercises to develop their writing, personal narrative, and voice. Participants will receive individual feedback. By the end of the program, participants should be able to craft a collection of poems and gain a deeper understanding of the transformative power of the written word.  For writers of all levels.  

Instructor:  Nefretete Rasheed, Ph.D. , has received poetry and theater awards from the Princess Grace Foundation, NJ State Council on the Arts, DC Arts and Humanities, and the National Academy of American Poets.  A guest lecturer for Rutgers University, NY State University and others, Dr. Rasheed was also a Geraldine Dodge Foundation poet, and instituted a number of innovative arts and education programs for many cultural organizations including The New York Shakespeare Festival/Public Theater, The New Jersey Performing Arts Center, New York Council on the Arts and the Westchester Arts Council.
