Driving the Astral Highway

On this planet that we currently inhabit, there’s a little-known highway that travelers can experience, if they so desire.

It’s a highway so subtle it requires a magnitude of spiritual willingness even to begin. I started my journey in 1986 and I am still learning.

No college degrees are required, because colleges today cannot even comprehend the vastness of this highway.  Even Stanford, where I once worked, has no courses on how to navigate the astral highway.

I know a man who was given instructions in Kriya Yoga Meditation techniques in 1964.  He told me that at the end of his meditations he is able to see glimpses of the astral planes, something I have long wondered about.

Yogananda, who brought the map of the astral highway to the west in 1920, called this Kriya meditation technique, the airplane route to God.

Recently, I attended a Kriya Yoga ceremony for the higher kriyas here at Ananda Village.  The minister talked about these ancient tools, and told how Yogananda described the higher kriya techniques as gateways to the astral highways of the spine that would eventually lead to enlightenment and soul liberation.

It requires a commitment to practice Kriya Yoga Meditation.

To take initiation into Kriya, the human body must be ready to receive the energy that will pass through the astral spine.   It takes roughly six months of doing the Hong-Sau (referred to as “Baby Kriya”) technique just to bring the subtle body into alignment.

Likewise, purifying the mystical centers of the astral spine can sometimes take years of twice daily meditation to release blockages.

But there is hope for those who really do want to travel the astral highway.

Mahavatar Babaji, the deathless guru, uttered this prediction: Kriya Yoga, the scientific technique of God-realization, will ultimately spread in all lands, and aid in harmonizing the nations through personal, transcendental perception of the Infinite Father.

When we finally leave this earthly body we are inhabiting, there’s a good chance our soul will travel to the astral planes—a magnificent after-death world where we get to work out the seeds of past karma through various astral incarnations.

We might even return to earth for further refinement of our karma.

If we apply ourselves, we might graduate to an astral planet beyond imagination of expectancy.

futuristic astral planets

“There are many astral planets, teeming with astral beings,” Swami Yukteswar said in Autobiography of a Yogi. “The inhabitants use astral planes, or masses of light, to travel from one planet to another, faster than electricity and radioactive energies.”

“Astral planets like Hiranyaloka include inhabitants who have already passed through the ordinary astral spheres, where nearly all beings from earth must go at death; there they worked out many seeds of their past actions in the astral worlds.”

Beyond the astral world, is the far greater causal world of ideas.

Colleges of the future will need to offer in-depth study of the art and science of Kriya Yoga Meditation, along with knowledge of the The Yuga Cycles of Time and how these cycles affect the evolution of not only our current planet, but our inner world as well.

We are now in Ascending Dwapara Yuga, a time of great upward evolution for this planet, when each one of us will be called upon to help us evolve higher.

“O Creator of All! in the garden of Thy dreams let me be a radiant flower.  Or may I be a tiny star, held on the timeless thread of Thy love as a twinkling bead in the vast necklace of Thy heavens.

Or give me the highest honor: the humblest place within Thy heart.  There I would behold the creation of the noblest visions of life.”

P. Yogananda, “Whispers from Eternity”
