Philip Goldberg is the author of American Veda: From Emerson and the Beatles to Yoga and Meditation, How Indian Spirituality Changed the West. Goldberg’s eye-opening popular history shows how the ancient philosophy of Vedanta and the mind-body methods of Yoga have profoundly affected the worldview of millions of Americans and radically altered the religious landscape. Most recently, he was featured in Awake!, the documentary film that chronicles Yogananda’s experiences in establishing yoga in the west. He is currently working on a book about Yogananda. Goldberg’s background includes early involvement with TM and the Maharishi University and a repertoire as an author, public speaker, workshop leader, spiritual counselor, meditation teacher and ordained Interfaith Minister. He lives in Los Angeles, blogs regularly on Huffington Post and Elephant Journal, and is co-host of the podcast Spirit Matters. He serves as a guest lecturer and member of the Advisory Board.
