Sample Class Flow (120 minutes):

Opening circle and icebreaker (10 minutes)

Short teaching (10-15 minutes) Introduction to core concepts of Yoga, including the gunas, directional energy in the spine, chakras, and affirmations, and connect them to daily life.

Energization (20 minutes) Practice Yogananda’s Energization Exercises to consciously control and draw cosmic energy (prana) into the body.

Yoga postures (30 minutes) Ananda-style Yoga prepares the body and mind for meditation by practicing a sequence of poses to direct energy (prana) inward and upward through the spine and to the brain. Each asana is paired with a positive affirmation that imbibes the spiritual quality represented in each pose, creating a link between the physical postures and elevated consciousness.

Meditation (15 minutes) Internalize the energy cultivated through the practice and tune into inner feelings of peace, calmness, joy, love, freedom, etc.

Bonus material (10-15 minutes): Sound bath, art activity with mindfulness, interactive game to reinforce the teaching topic, Sharing Nature activity, and/or affirmation walk. Closing circle (10 minutes). Positive reflections, group celebrations, namaste good-byes.
